Chewy flour tortillas

you can fill these tortillas with anything you like. Traditionally they are used to make bean and cheese tacos, bacon and egg, fajitas tacos, brisket tacos, chicken, please do not ruin your tortilla with ketchup and a pickle inside hahaa.

mix the following in a large bowl. If you want to double the recipe then you just x2 the following ingredients:

2cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsps baking powder
1 tsp of salt

mix all dry ingredients together and gradually add

3/4 cup luke warm milk (2% is fine)
2 tsps vegetable oil

work the mixture into dough. If it is a little sticky just add a little flour to it until it is no longer sticky but has the consitency of bread dough. While you are doing that heat your iron skillet (comal) to about a medium high. Make sure it's been heating for about 10 minutes or so before using so that your tortillas will come out better.

Once dough (masa) is ready, form what we call tostales, it's small balls of dough the size of a golf balls. Roll them out nice and round until they are maybe the size of a salad plate. Put it on the comal (iron skillet) for about 1/2 a minute, flip it over and do the same. They should look better than the store bought tortillas and guaranteed to taste better! they are homeade! ;o)

Once you have made all your tortillas they are aslo just yummy by themselves or with a little butter. Enjoy!
